AirlineCareer.com Predicts Record Number of Flight Attendant Jobs in 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Nov 22, 2010 – AirlineCareer.com, a leader in online flight attendant career information announced today that it predicts that airlines will hire a record number of flight attendants in 2011. This trend, which began in the second half of 2010, is a reversal of the airline hiring posture after the attacks of September 11, 2001. For the past nine years, airlines have been searching for ways to cut costs in order to increase their bottom line. One of the methods used was to cut the work force.

The new hiring trend began during the latter half of 2010, when several airlines announced plans for fututre growth due to increased profits, route expansion and fleet acquisitions. Delta Airlines recently merged with Northwest Airlines and has begun a major hiring push into next year. The airline predicts it will need a minimum of 1,000 new flight attendants. To date, the airline has received 85,000 applications for these positions.

US Airways, another airline that has not hired in quite some time also has announced plans to hire up to 420 new flight attendants. The airline has already begun accepting online applications in anticipation of the hiring surge.

Many other airlines resumed hiring in 2010 and predict a greater need for new flight attendants in the coming year. Of the 54 airlines that are monitored by AirlineCareer.com, 35 are now hiring or are accepting applications in anticipation of future hiring.

According to Joseph Belotti, President of AirlineCareer.com, "We have been contacted by many other airlines about their aggressive hiring plans for the coming year. Some of those airlines include Virgin America, Mesa, Air Wisconsin, Mesaba, Southwest, Delta, and US Airways. We are also monitoring increased hiring activity at many of the international and multi-national carriers including Emirates, Etihad, Singapore, Ryanair, Gulf Air, and Qantas UK."
